SHipping engines

Put it on a Pallet (some auto parts warehouses will
have "mini pallets" made for shipping engines or you
might check with local engine rebuilders... might cost
you). Drain it (rock it around a bit to make sure you
get EVRYTHING out as most companies will charge you
ifn they have to clean their truck out due to your 2
quarts of dirty oil. Shrink wrap it (not cheap!)

For stability's sake, turn the engine upside down on
the valve covers (so it looks like a capital "A"
instead of a "V"). This is the best way to ship/
store engines, IMHO.

A dressed out 401 with accessories, trq cnvrtr, full
pallet and manifolds is over 700 lbs, over 500 with
intake only. I know the Buicks are beefy also. SHop
around to different docks. You will save a lot by
taking it there in a pickup (they will offload with
Forklift).

DO NOT be afraid to require money for handling.
ANyone who calls handling Bogus has never had to pay
for the pallet, shrink wrap or the hours gathering
this stuff together, cleaning, draining, etc... Also,
make sure they understand the shipping is ESTIMATED
until it is ont the truck and they might be required
to repay some unseen expense.

GOod luck... I have done this more times than I can
count and it ain't fun, but it pays if you need to
sell an engine!
