I'd like to see restoration guides as well but to do those justice, you'd
have to focus on a particular car and probably even have to break things
down by body style since there are some major changes that happened over
the years. Outside of the "glory cars" (and Jeep), there aren't many
models that would support the effort required. Met's might but I'm not sure
what else would.
Also, how many shows are there where AMC's are judged on how accurately
they're restored? AMCRC doesn't do this type of judging (unless the
national events are different than the regionals). I know the one AMO
regional I attend regularly doesn't. Both of these club regionals are more
show and shine type judging and you hardly need a restoration guide to make
a car look nice. Unless there is more competitive judging at more shows, I
just don't see the demand. Of course, you also have the problem that it's
tough to get people to volunteer to judge at shows which makes it difficult
to do the type of judging that would drive demand for a restoration guide.
