" From: <mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx> " " I am playing with a 232 and have a question on head " swapping. The engine is a 72 that still runs good but " sucked a valve. I have a 65 232 head in with real nice " shape. What will I gain or lose sswapping the 232 head " onto the 72. I understand they are different but I " have nothing to refer to, and after years of messing " with the V8s this is the first time I have done " anything to the I6s other than keep them " alive......Russ unless the '72 has shaft rockers you'll need to add the external oil line mod. this is well known and not difficult. the '65 has closed chambers, 56cc vs. 66cc '68-'76, so you'll gain some compression. team it with 199 flattops... otoh the smaller '72-up ports are said to flow better. if you were crazy, you could fill the intake ports by brazing and reshape them, but that wouldn't stand up to exhaust heat. there's an iron-compatible nickel alloy welding rod, but you'd have to have an artist's eye, a steady hand, and be **** lucky besides, because it's so hard to machine you'd have to leave the bead the way you laid it down. ________________________________________________________________________ Andrew Hay the genius nature internet rambler is to see what all have seen adh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and think what none thought
