Both engines MUST have originally had shaft rocker heads. I'm not positive the 72 does. There is a way around it -- run an external oil line to the shaft -- but that's not a very practical idea. The 65 likely has larger ports, but a poor design makes the size meaningless. The combustion chamber might be a bit smaller on the 65, but not that much. I don't think there is any real gain here, no more than 0.5 points of compression, maybe less. Not enough to warrant the head change due to the poor port design, but if both are rocker shaft heads at least you'll have your engine running again. Other than the shaft vs. bridged pedestal rockers, there are no problems with this swap.
