On a Pertronix Ignitor for the 199, 232, and 258 six, you end up replacing the entire breaker plate assembly so you can probably get by without any adjustments if you switch back on the road. I'm pretty sure the gap would be off doing this but unless you pack a dwell meter with you, it's going to be off anyway.

The Pertronix is that simple -- just drop it in place of the points. It screws down just like the points. The only mod is a switched hot wire running to the module. It installes just like changing points. Keep a screwdriver and book of matches in the glovebox with the points is all. I'm sure you know the old trick I'm suggesting! Matches might come in handy for some emergency too, you never know! With the Pertronix as easy as changin points and a wire, I don't know why you're so against it Doc! The MSD costs as much or more and is much more visible. Unless you just want to show the MSD box off (since people associate MSD with performance), the Pertronix is a better bargain. I've used both -- they perform about the same.
