Yes, but at a price premium over PC software, and it's hard to find. Ambiguity is the strength of the PC! 

That said, for basic computing I would still recommend a Mac though I don't use one for above reasons. If I were willing to pay the premium prices for Pagemaker or some other Apple DTP software, I could use a Mac easily. Having an investment in a PC already keeps me from going that way. For someone just getting a computer with basic needs, a Mac with Appleworks and a good browser is all they're likely to need. When they do need/want more it will be worth paying a bit more for software, at least up to a point. When they reach that point (shold take years, and may never!), they'll know.
