I do want to add something that someone brought to my attention. The intention of this project has always been for clubs to take the car and do some work, then pass along to another club for a bit more work, etc. This worked fine until it got to Kenosha. I had thought that having the car more in "AMC Country" it would be easy to find one of the relatively local clubs (within a 5-8 hour drive of Kenosha local) to take the car. I was appalled to find different! Dan Whitehead has donated parts, and offered to take the car a month or two before Kenosha. At the time I declined the offer, preferring the car go to a club. I beleive (may be getting "facts" wrong, this was around three years ago!) that by the time it became apparent no club was going to step up, Dan had started another project and couldn't take the car. I had forgot about this until reminded. Dave got the car "by default", not intention, though no offense is meant to Dave -- he's aware of the circumstances! Had I any idea that a club wouldn't come forward I'd have definitely had Dan on "stand-by" if nothing else. At this point I'll entertain approaches by individuals to take responsibility for the car, but still prefer a club. I realize that many AMC enthusiasts don't have local AMC clubs. Well, it doesn't have to be an all AMC club. If a Mopar or general car club wants to take on the challenge, and an AMC owner will be the lead person for the car, that's not a problem. Just because there's not enough AMC people interested in a club nearby doesn't make you less a part of the AMC community. It would be nice if the AMC clubs took the car, but getting the car doen is more important. I still have some money "in the kitty", and can help with transportation costs -- at a minimum gas money. There's around $700 in the kitty, by the way. Any interest, e-mail or call me -- 302-233-4925. Leave a message if no answer and I'll call you back! ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist
