Re: Great News On The PROJECT CHARITY AMX

David is our "most valuable player" in the whole Charity AMX scene right now. I'm not discounting any work done by the great teams and individuals who have tackled this project. The fact is that David single handedly "saved" the project back in Kenosha in 2002. It has been in his hands since then, but there was no one willing to take the car at that time. I don't know what's up with the northern/mid west clubs. I thought getting someone to take it near Kenosha would be a piece of cake! Instead, we got there with the car (someone voluntarily hauled it from Texas just for gas money!) and found no one willing to take it. They came, they enjoyed the sho, saw the car, a few dropped donations in the bucket, and they went home. David is the ONLY one that stepped forward and said he'd get the work done. Initially he was just going to store it in Kenosha until a club came forward, but when it looked like that may not happen he asked if I'd mind if he took the project on as an individ!
ual. Then he beat the bushes and found a body shop, and when that fell through beat some more and found another willing to work with the car in their free time. Instead of patching and "making do", Zion Auto Body went above and beyond what we expected! They re-worked old crash damage and put the thing in a frame machine, pulling everything back out right, then took the time to make the car the best it could possibly be. Yes, it has taken nearly three years, and there has been stretches of 2-3 months where the guys didn't touch the car, but they worked it in between their paying jobs and did it RIGHT!! The AMC community can't thank those guys enough!! David, make sure a link to Zion's e-mail get's sent to Matt. Their e-mail box might be overflowing a bit, but I thikn they'd get the message that their effort is appreciated! If anyone is in the area and needs some resto work done, please give them a call and mention the Charity AMX!!

A big thanks for you, David, and Zion!!

By the way, send me a mailing address in e-mail. I have about a half dozen AMC 50/Rambler 100 year anniversary key rings for you and the crew at Zion. Let me know if that's not enough!!
