Not camshaft related, but the crank IS special! It's ARMASTEEL. That's a special casting process that produces a stronger than normal (for the time) casting. It's still an iron crank, it's not steel. Something similar to a nitrided iron (?) process. More commonly used now, I think, but in the late 60s it was "trick". Strength is somewhere in between a stock cast and forged steel crank, probably a little closer to stock cast than forged.
