I will just shut my mouth this year after seeing what all those poor people on the gulf coast have gone through in the last few weeks. And my brother can have his sun belt in Arizona too with his 110+ degree summers. But it is a dry heat he says, right but it is still 110+. "Doc" ---------------------- Some say the secret to happiness is a well petted pussy, some others say it is a well trained dog.......... right now a bag of Reeses Miniatures would go just right........;) I honestly enjoy the North East, nothing compares to the Seasonal displays we have here each Autumn in the Hudson Valley. Besides, ...... keeps the insect population at a minimum. Out my back door, the stretch of roadway heading out toward 'The Gunk' Mountain becomes a virtual parking lot with visitors from NYC - up to Mohunk Mountain House for Dinners & turn of the Century atmosphere. Snow storms have taken on that flavour of enjoyment I had when a Teen & Dad kept two Jeeps registered for our driveway detail. Back then, we had REAL up to your belt accumulation with drifts in the 5 foot range a regularity. I'd drop the plow & head down the drive around 2AM & get the largest tasks done before going where no passenger car had gone before - Dunkin Doughnuts on Broadways - to watch the NYS Thruway plow rigs roll in on breaks. Nowadays it is a Condo parking lot in a small Collage town that still has Hallowe'en Parades down Main St. for the 'Little People' , making their way to the Fire House just past Starbucks, where they're spoiled madly by our Finest........... makes me almost want to be a Parent........ almost. First Blizzards - I clamber out to the Cherokee with the porch broom in tow - clear off the glass & hood - dig out the drivers door & fire the Big Six with a sly grin - knowing that 99% of the parking lot membership are shut ins until late in the morning when the plow provides them a drive space to aspire to as they wealds shovels and sweat. Me ? ........ yeah baby.........I'm long gone....... Lo Range and First Gear puts the Black Panzer back in the game nose high climbing out on street manoeuvres in search of a 'Liebensraum' perch at our local Dunkin' D - to watch the NYS Thruway rigs roll Main St. prior to the morning drive contenders. Living in the South all year round has been a thought, but I'd have to surrender my Sweater collection & my Massachusetts childhood roots wouldn't feel right. They're running the Andy Griffith Show collection all weekend on TV Land - cable - , ..... nothing beats that Southern down home style........ weren't this s'posed located in South Carolina ? Brien.
