Re: Anybody here from Alabama?

I live in Monroe County, right next door. The library over in Evergreen should have something; next time I'm over that way I'll take a look I'll have Mobile checked, too. They might have something as well.

I need a little help researching an incident that took place in 1974.

What I need is to find a newspaper article from the era that contained an article about the event and a photo of the scene.

I'll provide the details below, but what I need to know is-

What newspaper?
Exact date of the article?
I need the full text and the photo from the article.

If somebody were willing to check the library's newspaper archives, that would be awesome. But failing that, I could use help in finding the mibraries closest to the incident site.

The incident (as described by the Alabama DPS website):

"Sergeant Julian D. Stuckey, 36, was killed on Thursday, June 27, 1974, in Conecuh County, when a tire on his patrol car blew out, causing the vehicle to hit a bridge railing on I-65. Stuckey had planned to be married that weekend."

Another State Trooper related the story to me as follows:

"Sgt Julian D. Stuckey was killed on I-65 near the Conecuh county Butler

line. I worked this area for three years and became interested in his death. I was asble to find a news paper article about his crash. The article also has a photo of a ADPS javelin on its roof. Sgt Stuckey was traveling south on I-65 at a high rate of speed and a tire blew out causing him to loose control and crash. This happened June 27, 1974"

Naturally, I'd like to get this article for inclusion on my ADPS Javelin

website. I'd assume the article appeared on the 28th or perhaps the
29th.

So....anybody down there got a lead on getting this article?

Thanks in advance,

John
