Someting like you suggested is what I meant -- they just published the torque number at an rpm more comparable to faster turning V-6 engines than a low rpm peak number. Right -- the Jeep four should be tuned to pull steeper gearing than a car engine would. The best gearing for a Jeep engine in a car should therefore be somewhere between the two because of the weight and load carrying differences.
