" Hey Guys, I want to install 10 inch drums, backing plates and shoes
on
" my 66 American. WE have no salvage yards that have AMC's in them
(Crushed
" immediately here) so if any of you have access to such used parts and
are
" willing to pick them up and sell them to me, I would be grateful. I
want
" the drums and backing plates from an Ambassador or Classic wagon if
" possible. Just the front ones. Are the 72 Spirit/Hornet drums 10
inch?

afaik all v8 front drums are the same 10" on all cars, so if that
hornet/gremlin is a non-disk v8... and of course ambos had 10"
regardless of engine; also later rebels but not all earlier
rebel/classic.

wagon -rear- drums were bigger [wider] but afaik there's only one 10"
front.

" Do I need to change spindles?

i don't believe
so.
