Re: {SPAM?} Re: Collector car insurance

State Farms policy seemed to be closer to what you ask for than what I have now, but that was about 5 years ago. At that time it was $62 for six months coverage for $3500 value on my American and Haggerty was $92 a year. What State Farm offers now I do not know.
I will be checking it out. Also remember avalable polocies vary from state to state due to state regulations and restrictions.
even though WV reguires annual inspections on vehicles. With my Year of Manufacturer tags and limited use designation I don't have to have it inspected. My plates are $36 for 10 years! Now these plates are limited use also, however, not one trooper in ten knows the collector car rules, Soit'sno big deal to drive it when I feel like it. If my insurance would cover it on weekdays!!!! I'm more worried about an accident and no coverage then a ticket from a trooper for driving my collector car on Tuesday morning!!!

>I understand the collector car policies. That's why I DON'T have one for my car. Something in between that would allow up to like 5K miles (3.5-4K might be an acceptable minimum) and NOT be so restrictive would be ideal. So my primary car breaks down or gets in a fender bender and is down for a week. I have to rent a car instead of driving the Rambler. Even if my policy allows a certain amount (say three days) for a rental, if it takes longer I need to rent instead of drive the Rambler to work a couple days. A car NEEDS to be driven occasionally to keep it up. I can't decide to drive it to work on a nice day when I have a busy, non car related weekend planned. Car needs driving, and I need to pick up some groceries. What's wrong with taking the Rambler? Might get a parking lot ding? If it's THAT much of a collector car maybe you shouldn't run any errands with it.

>I'd like to see a policy that wouldn't even cover minor damage like parking lot dings and scratches but allow me to actually use the car on occasion, and still be less than an every day car. That's the "hole" in the collector/hobby car insurance. A "hobby car" (vs. collector car) policy would be ideal -- no limits on HOW it's used (except no racing), just a 5-6K a year mileage limit, covered (but not necessarily fully enclosed -- car port should be fine) storage requirement, a maximum value of around $25K, with a mandatory $500 deductible. Priced around 1/3 of what a regular policy would cost. Now THAT would get some business!

I do have a stated value of the vehicle. Each driver in the household must have a vehicle that they use as a primary vehicle. Plus, the vehicle has to stay in a locked garage on the property/primary residence.

>>
>> This is why the premium is so much cheaper! I didn't take it off my regular policy until now because it's only been in the last month or so (well, really since the heat of summer hit and the Rambler has NO AC!), that I committed to having it as a hobby-only car. My regular policy was ~$450/yr vs $68/yr for the CCI.
>>

My '69 Hot Rod Rambler isn't insured at all at this time as it's apart in my garage, but I'm going to have to put it on CCI as well even tho it's apart if I want to keep the plate that's on it (RUMBLR) when it's time to renew next yr. CCI will be a good choice for that.
