Mark, Frank, All,

I'm NOT an agent, so I may be off abit, but here goes:

AS I UNDERSTAND IT, Collector Car Insurance is for a car that is for hobby purposes only, is not used as a backup to any vehicle, is not used for work under any circumstances, and you're allowed a certain mileage figure a year. I do have a stated value of the vehicle. Each driver in the household must have a vehicle that they use as a primary vehicle. Plus, the vehicle has to stay in a locked garage on the property/primary residence.

So, for me, I have:
>Stated value @ $5000 (I can adjust up as required, but that's about right at this time).
>Allowed 2500 miles/yr; out of state trips OK (like my last one to the Atlanta AMO Nats) as long as it's to a club meeting/collector car show/etc. Any outings are supposed to be hobby related; no trips to the supermarket, etc.

This is why the premium is so much cheaper! I didn't take it off my regular policy until now because it's only been in the last month or so (well, really since the heat of summer hit and the Rambler has NO AC!), that I committed to having it as a hobby-only car. My regular policy was ~$450/yr vs $68/yr for the CCI.

I've also been on a mission to reduce/remove some of my bills, and paring down vehicles and insurance is one of those efforts. My '69 Hot Rod Rambler isn't insured at all at this time as it's apart in my garage, but I'm going to have to put it on CCI as well even tho it's apart if I want to keep the plate that's on it (RUMBLR) when it's time to renew next yr. CCI will be a good choice for that.

I just bought a '02 Ranger 4 cyl-5 sp pickup that's now my work vehicle, and selling my old '92 Isuzu pickup with 207K miles as it's been nickle-diming me as of late; I have enough projects with the cars I love (my AMC's) and wanted to "cut my losses" as such and get something newer and more reliable.

Hope this helps!
