That's exactly the same parts/year I used for my Javelin swap, if you need any info let me know, when I started mine the wiring was a little intimidating but if you know which ones are which it gets simple in a hurry. ~John -----Original Message----- From: fljab@xxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:fljab@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, September 13, 2005 10:35 PM To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: 4.0 Jeep I found a '94 Cherokee locally with a 4.0/5 sp/2WD; I can probably get this thing for less than $1500. The body looks OK with a small ding in the back quarterpanel, and rust bubbles on the roof drip rail on the starboard side. It drives and stops really well, engine sound good, doesn't seem to smoke, and the AC is cold. It has ~167K miles But, something scares me about this thing; I pulled the dipstick and the oil looked like brown goo, and the engine has oil all over the valve cover and intake that seems to be coming from either the fill cap or the PCV valve. This tells me blow-back, although as mentioned above, I didn't notice the engine smoking through the tailpipe when I asked him to park it (it was next to a new Volvo). HMMM, what to do? I'll make a decision by tomorrow. I figured that this is cheap enough, and could use it as a SUV as needed until I'm ready, then transplant the entire assy into the wagon when I get that far. The oil/apparent blowback puzzles me due to the lack of smoke. I guess it's possible that I could flush the engine and put in good oil/synthetic, but that won't fix problems already there. No "overhaul in a can" as such that I know, but it might be simple enough to flush, replace the PCV, tune, etc, and it's OK. Oh, yeah, I may need to hide it from Mama for a month or two...
