We've had Hurricane Ophelia lingering off the coast for several days now and all it's done is rain during that time. The good news is we've finally come of the blistering heat that's been present for a good many weeks. Ophelia appears to finally be veering offshore and away from us. Florida Skeeters really love the rain... My projects have been suffering. I took in all the info on which 4.0 combo is the best, and from what I see from you all, choosing a '91-95 setup would be best all around. I really just want to find a complete vehicle as a donor, heck, maybe even to drive until I'm ready to tear it apart, then transplant into the Wagon. Until that happens, I'm still plugging along with my 232/3 speed combo. Finding a good 4.0/5 speed/2wd Cherokee for a reasonable price close enough is proving to be a chore... I gotta admit, other than for power, that old engine runs good and I really have no reason to change it. It needs no major work that I can tell, just some small stuff. >Rebuild the Holley 1 bbl (I have a spare, rebuildable carb); engine doesn't idle well and stumbles. >Finish AC install - I scored a "Mount up and Drive" kit on Ebay which has all the correct brackets and pulleys for this engine. I need to reroute the fuel/vac lines as mine go around the front of the engine. Except for an odd hose or two, I now have everything to get a system together. >Detail the engine compartment >Figure out how to get my column 3-on-the-tree shifter hooked back up. Story goes that the trans is out of a '70 Jav and the linkages don't fit anymore, so was converted to floor shift; I'd like to put it back original. The body on this car is solid, but with a number of small dings and dents. I had determined I wasn't going to worry about that until I had it mechanically sorted out. I would like to start doing the dings 1 at a time. I'm no bodyman, so was hoping to find a good, backyard body guy that would do them that way as we both had time and I had money. Kinda bodywork ala cart; We'll see how it works out. I had a '99 Ford Ranger that was leased (never do that again!)and needed to turn in. I crunched the fender on it, so I found a couple of guys that actually worked at the local Ford Bodyshop but also had a place and did work on the side for much less. I bought a Taiwan fender and he replaced it and painted with matching paint; maybe I need to see if they're still around...
