Attachments in List Messages: ALL READ PLEASE!!

You will occasionally see list messages come up with attachments. The attachments are usually a repeat of the message, a V-card (electronic business card), or a footer created by some e-mail programs. I have allowed attachments because most newer mail programs have some type of footer on them. If attachments aren't allowed these mails get bounced and a lot of people can't reply unless they do it directly from the web site. Please set your e-mail to send plain text only, or continue to send plain text. It keeps bandwidth use (and cost for the list) down.

The attachements ARE NOT a virus. The list mail ISP runs all list traffic through a virus scan before sending it out. If a message has a virus attached it WILL NOT be sent out to the list. Sometime an e-mail picks up a virus as it's transmitted through an infected internet node, and the e-mail won't show up on the list. It may not be your computer that's infected! This is one reason most ISPs use Linux or UNIX -- virii aren't written for them, but for the most common OS -- Windows. Since it's hard not to use Windows because of software availability and price, I suggest you NOT use Internet Explorer. That's the second most targeted program by virus makers since most people do use it. I suggest you try Firefox or Netscape, both free downloads. 

Allowing attachments is NOT allowing pics or files to be attached!! That is STRICTLY PROHIBITED for the list. If you have a file or photo you want to share, post a link to it. If you need a free place to put photos or files, go to http://groups.msn.com/AMCsForever2. You can create a free album there after signing up.
