Re: AMC Modifying

When we finished the brain-storming, we found that
our 'Dream Team' 4.0 did exist already in the form of
the GM 'Blue Flame' Vortec 4200 DOHC all aluminum SFI - ECM
controlled camshafts engine >shifts @ 6,500rpm and
cranks 275HP _ which can be had
from www.car-parts.com for around a Grand > ready
to run.

With two small Turbos, 8.5 to 1 Pistons, this power plant
churns out 400HP with a flat Torque Curve all day long.

The Weight reduction over a cast iron 4.0 should be notable.

That is the GM Media area which has incredible
.pdf files on the Engine.

I drove an Envoy with the all alluminum inline six (275 horsepower) and thought that GM is up to the old tricks. It had great aceleration in first gear and shifted into second at 6,000 rpm but 275 seems optomistic. Consider an LS1 is rated at 305hp. Those extra 30 horses are doing alot of work.
