Doc: Sorry to say, AMC wheels will NOT work on your Malibu. Nor will the Impala wheels. The Impala has a 5 on 5" bolt pattern (same as GM fullsize trucks), the Malibu has 5 on 4 3/4" bolt pattern, and all AMCs that I'm aware of have a 5 on 4 1/2" bolt pattern. The 5 on 4 3/4" pattern is pretty unique to most GM makes. Some of the later Caprices (80s) had the smaller pattern like your Malibu, but some still had the bigger pattern (such as police cars and taxis). You need to find a midsized GM product to get the wheels from, like a G-body, an S10, a RWD A-body, or a non-heavy duty B-body, or a RWD X-body (Nova and derivatives). My day yesterday started out with a phone call from the police at 7:30 am. It seems some SOB's had slashed the tires on 6 cars in front of my apartment building. Both drivers side tires were cut on my Malibu, they passed on my son's Javelin and "K" car. What I need to know is will the 14 inch wheel from one of my AMC's fit the Malibu? I tried to put the 15 inch wheels and snow tires from my 71 Impala on the Malibu which also has 15 inch wheels 8 years ago when I bought it and the bolt patern was not the same. I just have to get this thing rolling so I can take it to the tire shop and get some new tires.
