Anyone having trouble with the list?



I've received a report that someone may have been having a problem posting to the list, or that things they have posted are not showing up. If this is happening please send me an e-mail and I will see what I can do to clear this up. 

No one can intercept messages from an individual before they go out on the list. The list automatically sends to all subscribers everything that comes in. That is all subscribers that get the list in e-mail or digest formats. If you're on "postpone" and read the list on the web site e-mails could get lost between the list and web site, and no messages are sent to you. For this reason I suggest you change your settings to "digest", which will deliver all messages combined into 2-3 messages a day instead of filling your mail box. You can still view and post from the website, but if the list to site link is broken you'll have a "fall back". That's what I do, and I usually delete the digests in the evenings when I read my e-mail. 

The web site IS NOT run by the list -- it's a service provided by Jim Stone. The web site is subscribed to the list just like a person would be. The software automatically posts incoming messages to the site as they come in. PLEASE GO THROUGH ME FIRST if there appears to be a problem with the web site so that Jim won't have a lot of people to deal with. 

There are three other people who have administrative rights to the list, but they can't delete individual messages no more than I. They can block or change access, but have been instructed not to do so unless necessary. If they feel it's necessary they CAN go ahead and block access, and will send me an e-mail stating why they did so at the same time. This has not happened, and I don't think it will. If they abuse this privelege it will be revoked, they know that. I prefer they remain anonymous as long as I am around to administer the list. If I have to leave for any length of time one of them or a different list member will be designated temporary moderator and be given administrative rights if they don't already have them. 

Since I have been moderator on the list I have only had to step in on a couple occasions, and all issues have been resolved without having to revoke access to posting, or to even threaten to do so. My goal is to not have to step in at all, and let the list pretty much run itself, as it has been. I will step in before something gets out of hand, and if someone is abusing their posting priveleges. I thank you all for respecting each other and the list in general so that I don't have to.
