Oh boy!

With all that chatter on the "Thinking of buying a parts rig" thread, what a
time to be trying to sell off a bunch of FSJ parts . . .

(snip)

But all he wanted was The Chief. He did not want any of the new or used
parts, or any of the literature and documentation. And he did not want any
of the
other stuff that I also offered for sale separately, including the two
complete (disassembled) 401s:

401 Number One--Probably the better buy at $400, exactly what I paid for it
a
couple of years ago:

o Standard bore
o Standard crank
o Early heads with adjustable rockers
o Square-bore four-barrel intake

I do not know anything about the history or condition of this engine, and it
would require everything . . .

401 Number Two--The one that lived in The Chief for about 12,000 miles, at
$500, a LOT MORE than I paid for it:

o 0.030 overbore
o 0.010/0.010 crank
o Forged pistons @ 9.3:1 compression ratio
o ARP head and rod bolts
o Later heads with positive-stop rockers
o Spread-bore four-barrel intake
o Includes:
    o Valve covers
o Oil pan from a later Wagoneer engine
    o Flex plate
    o Motor mounts
    o Both exhaust manifolds
    o Junk/core 4350 four-barrel carburetor
    o Junk/core 2150 two-barrel carburetor
o "Custom" 2-barrel carb to 4-barrel intake adapter
    o New/never-installed Holley-remanufactured 4350 four-barrel and
phenolic spacer

This engine developed a very slight "pecking noise" at about 10,000 miles,
and at the 12,000-mile mark the rear main bearing overheated, melted the
seal,
and we laid down a smoke screen on the north-side of Cajon Pass that would
have
made the 7th fleet proud. In addition to whatever happened to the rear
main,
two cylinders have scuffed walls and pistons--this was probably the "pecking
noise" . . .

I labeled everything as I took it apart, so it could be properly reassembled
if you want.

If you do not want the rebuilt 4350, you can have this engine for $400 as
well . . . And I would not blame you a bit!
