Re: Coil Spring Clamps

Not quite that easy, but close. The plate has to be thick enough to be threaded (fine threads) -- 3/8" steel or 1/2" aluminum. Then you have to leave room for the spindle bolts to overlap. It mounts like this:
              |               |
         |-| /               /                -|
      ===| |-|               |                 |-               |
         |-| |               |                -|             ===|
           |-|               |                 |-               |
             ----            ----
     Entire Assembly Steering Knuckle Plate w/bolts Spindle

You may need to copy this and use a monospace or Times Roman 10 point font to see it correctly. The four center holes need threading because a bolt head or nut won't clear the spindle and steering knuckle. You'll need to get bolts the correct length as they can't extend through the plate very much. When torquing the bolts you don't want the ends bottoming out -- you'll torque against what they touch rather than having the correct clamping force. The bolts should be tightened to 80-90 lb/ft and be grade 8. These will increase track a bit. If that's a big concern it wouldn't be difficult to incorporate the caliper mounts into the plate design.
