OK, now that it appears I can post to the list again, I'd like to say that the trip to the GA National meet was pretty well worth the nine hour drive from here; that is, once I found the show field. You see, it seems that the directions AMO sent were to the host hotel which is where I expected to find the cars also. AMO neglected to notify its members that the show itself was about five miles away from the hotel and not on the hotel grounds itself. For a show of this magnitude and the yearly $35 membership dues, I believe this was a very large oversight resulting in a bit of an inconvenience for myself and most likely others as well. Many parts featured your typical "overpricing" such as the pair of SC/Rambler emblems one vender wanted $175 for. Then there was a Machine air cleaner (no rubber seal, no lid, not even the wing nut) that was not reconditioned, but looked its age and had a price of $150 for it. Kinda ridiculous to say the least. I managed to walk away with (well, paid $5) a visor mirror for my Machine. I saw representatives of a Mexican club passing out flyers, which caught me by surprise. I wasn't aware there was a club in Mexico. A police unit was on the scene, so that kinda put the skids on anyone showing off. And man was it HOT!! I was glad to have brought plenty to drink and was dressed for maximum cooling efficiency. There were some really nice cars on the grounds. Other than the pink Playmate '68 AMX, I had not known of another pink AMC. Low and behold, there was an original pink '72 Javelin. I enjoyed the two SC/Ramblers in both A and B paint schemes as well as the Machines and all the other sweeeeeet looking AMC's (must've been at least 200). The trip back was delayed by two traffic jams on I85N. One was for construction and the other was for a tanker trucks' back wheels catching fire. I85 is quite a race track also! Although the posted speed limit is 70, if you don't do 85mph, you will most certainly impede traffic. And talk about the adult novelty store and shaker bar advertisements on the bill boards going through South Carolina!! This must be the main industry down that way because there sure were a lot of them. What an adventure. Cannot wait 'till next time!! Respectfully, Bob Rapp NN, VA 70 Machine
