Hornet Wagon

I went to a customers house today and he has a green AMC Hornet Sportabout Wagon. He says it is a 1961 but I know better than that. it looks similar to this one http://tinyurl.com/8c8xw except the color. The color looks similar to the wagon here http://www.zitrotek.com/amchornet/ProdYrs/1974/1974.asp

He said it has the 6 cylinder (I am assuming the 232). Not sure of tranny. He said he only parked it because the alternator went out but I wonder why someone would quit driving a vehicle over something that simple. It looks like it has been sitting a while. Has at least one flat tire and one inflated. The 2 I saw are badly weathered. When I go back to his house (probably in about a week) I am going to see if he wants to sell it. If I end up with this car is there anything I should know about it? Am I crazy for wanting ANOTHER AMC? Why do I have this weird attraction to station wagons?
