Interesting parallels here in Aus as well because AMI (Australian Motor
industries) assembled Ramblers & Mercs

Therefore some interior materials and paint colours were shared.

You also see Triumph's & Toyotas with the same hub caps etc as well.

I have heard that the assembly line workers loved assembling the Toyota's
but hated work on the Ramblers due in some part to the short assembly runs
they did.

Back in 1974, with my new-to-me '62 Ambassador 400, the
resemblance to the same-year Mercedes-Benz was obvious. Clearly
not a coincidence! There's all sorts of parallels and
similarities.

62 to 63 is a real sea change in style for AMC, they dumped the
stodgey and got modern.
