Re: Pulling lifter sout of a 232-258-4.0

I'm hoping it doesn't come to this but if engine flush doesn't solve my ticking lifter(s), I'm pulling the engine and putting in a new cam and lifters. I know this is technically an in-car fix but the engine was repainted in the past the wrong shade of blue (it's the 69-73 color), the oil pan's pretty rusty from lack of paint in a few spots and I want to fix those issues (I was planning on pulling the engine eventually so this is just an excuse to do it sooner). I know the engine's been apart once already to clean up coolant turned to goo (the car sat for a long time at one point in it's past) and it was a daily driver until about 5 years ago so sludge shouldn't be an issue.

The head does not have to come off. You need a coat

Rotate each lifter to its TDC, grab th spring with a
coat hanger and lift up. If itis a crudded out engine
you will need the screwdriver to hold the lifter from
falling and try to grab the lifter with the pliers.
Some are easy to get at, some aren't......Russ
