Frank, This was a little wink, wink on my part. The car is just a real clean 71 232 3 on the tree Bittersweet Orange Hornet that we want to spruce up by putting a 401 in it and all of the other SC360 stuff. The stripe kit is one of my reproductions with 401 in place of the 360 with the same font script. Thought it would make for some interesting stories on how it came about. You know I like a good story from time to time. Something like it started out as a limited production SC race car that was sent to the dealers as 6cyl VIN car for DOT purposes. Then the dealers put the 401 in, hood scoop, Hurst options and stripe. I heard all in all there were only 3 made for the street before the government put a stop to it and the other two have not been seen since 1974. One was destroyed during a 8 sec run at a drag strip when the car pulled a wheelie in second gear and the driver lost control and hit the guard rail. This is the only one still known to exist. Sorry for the confusion. BTW, anyone out there interested in a very good running and quiet low mileage 232 with a 3spd manual trans? Someone could have had a stripe made, so be careful! Does the VIN indicate a 401 came in the car?
