Any wire that goes to the battery. Doesn't have to have a load -- in fact it shouldn't. You can come right off the switch with a power wire, but it's best to run a new wire directly from the battery. That gives a clearer viwe of battery voltage. If the meter shorts out it could drain the battery, but that shouldn't be an issue.
