Or install a load resistor. 100 ohm is probably enough.
That would do it, but I'll just put an incandescent back in. There's no real advantage to the LED in that application and I'm at the point where I want to DRIVE it not WRENCH it :-)

Just swap out an LED replacement lamp for the normal incandescent. Exact same issue as the old Moto -- doesn't draw enough current to make the alt start!
THe old lamp will be goign back in :-)
(The alt will start if you blip the throttle up to 3000 rpm or so, for some reason.)
