" " I thought it was common knowledge! There's something I know you " don't? Shocking. my clay feet are exposed! my focus has always been on '64-9 americans, since for 24 years they've been my daily drivers and main cars. i know lots about other amcs, but... -- some time ago, i noodled up an adapter plate to put a t5 behind a small-bell six. never tried making one but sure looked good on paper... it would use a '90s mustang 3.8 tranny. late-gen sixes don't have a clutch problem; even 199s can take a 10" disk, though you -must- use a 10" pp, -not- 10.5"! the bigger ones will fit the flywheel but not clear the bellhousing. but the 196 flywheel was never drilled for this larger clutch pattern though i believe it has the room for it. now i think i've just found the answer! the 144/170/200 ford six - which has been mentioned here for early american power - has a very small 130-tooth flywheel and also takes 9 1/8" clutches. for '60-5, their transmission - according to chilton/motor/mitchell manuals - looks and sounds a lot like a t-96, and the disk has a 15/16" spline... but in '65 the new toploader family was fully online and ford started using them for everything, so the light-duty 3sp version [known even then as a t150 btw] replaces the earlier peanut. the disk is still 9 1/8", but now it has a 1 1/16" spline -- just like the t5! i believe it was used from '65/6 well into the '70s behind the 170 and 200, so supply should be easy. " Tomorrow I'm working on cars -- so I'll dig out the brackets and " photo and measure. Basically both bolt to the three bosses on the " block vertical; the pad that the motor mounts bolt two, with two " bolts, is shifted front or rear, depending. Handy to have both " sets! that's what you said before. i take it you don't recall what cars you got them from? maybe we [collectively] can figure that out, comparing your pics to our cars. ________________________________________________________________________ Andrew Hay the genius nature internet rambler is to see what all have seen adh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and think what none thought
