A: I posted some time back about a guy that wanted the plastic road pylons I had on EBay. I posted a correct weight and size of package alnog with my zip and the note: SHIPPING NOT INCLUDED and some guy in Texas wanted them and bid. UPS wanted $150 for shipping (cones went for $37) and the guy insisted that I send them to him for what he bid for because "EBay ALWAYS includes shipping costs!" Clown went so far as to have a lawyer threaten to sue me for breach of contract. I took the cones down to UPS and said I'd ship them collect, but that would have been $300 and if they refused, I would have been on the hook for the difference. Turned out that EBay had a calculator on the sale (when they first started doing it) that gave a cost of $37 for UPS shipping, so the guy bid that. I got my only bad mark, but it went away on it's own for some strange reason. But I see your point as well. I agree 100% on e-bay. When it started they were as careful about protecting a buyer as a seller, maybe even more so for the buyer. Now you can't even leave decent feedback if a sell goes bad -- "not as advertised, guy is a crook" is about the best you can do. Used to be able to write a short paragraph and explain a bit. They are just to big now to care. Any time you buy something you are taking some risk, and you WILL lose/get cheated on occasion. For me even the recent (possible) $130 loss is more than balanced by the good deals I've won and being able to get some things I just couldn't get locally.
