Re: Broke breaks on my 67 American

This reminds me -- some years used Bendix and Wagner interchangeably. Basically AMC used both suppliers. Generally one model used one manufacturer another model the other. But there were times when they were switched due to supply problems. AMC typically used more than one supplier when they could just in case there was a problem with getting enough parts from one or the other in a timely manner due to labor problems, fire (like when the GM Hydramatic plant -- the only auto trans maker at the time -- had a fire in the early 50s, shutting supplies of auto transmissions down to many makes for 10-12 months), supply problems of their own, etc. I have seen mid to late 60s Americans with Wagners, but more received Bendix. Same for the Classic and Rebel -- for a few years all received Wagner, and I don't think I've seen one of those with Bendix except where the owner changed them out due to parts availability problems. Since Bendix supplies more makers (like Ford at teh time) maybe!
there was a supply problem at one time and/or another.
