 I would stay with the liquid cooled trans as well.
If you go concourse restoration route, then maybe I would pull it, but since the liquid colled was an option on all Americans I would doubt you will ever be called on it. 
Just do away with the aftermarket cooler and make everything as it would have been if it was truely a factory liquid cooled trans car.
