Plus with the one wire you have to make sure you goose the throttle when you start the car as they don't kick in a charge till they reach a certain RPM. This RPM varies by internal regulator styl too from what I remember reading.
SENSE also goes to the battery; not to the big stud. It seems needless, but running a separate wire from SENSE to the battery lets the alternator measure the ACTUAL battery voltage, and compensates for voltage drop in the wire to the big stud.
