Jeep TH400 & Dana 20 T-case and Dana 300 T-case AND adapter questions

Hi Everyone,
I have some questions that hopefully can be answered. Here's the scoop ....

I'm trying to help out Avi over in Israel with installing a TH400 into his '79
CJ-7 (258 ... was 3-spd/Dana 20 combo). He bought an AMC-belled TH400 Jeep
setup, along with steering column and peddle setup, from a guy in the USA and
had it shipped over to Israel, but it was a TH400 setup for Quadra-trac, which
wouldn't mate to his stock Dana 20 t-case.

He has been chatting some with Advance Adapters and bought their Dana
300-to-TH400 adapter kit (adapter and tranny output). After trying to install
the Dana 300, it is not aligning properly to his skid plate.

So, he and I have been talking about the stock 1972 Jeep TH400 (Buick Nailhead)
tranny, Dana 20 T-case and stock Jeep adapter (tranny-to-tcase) that I have.
He's also talking to Adavance Adapters about their Dana 20-to-TH400 adapter.

Aparently the Advance Adapter Dana 300 and the Dana 20 kits use the same output
shaft. Can anyone confirm this ... True or False?

Does anyone know if the STOCK Jeep Dana 20 adapter and the Advance Adapter Dana
20 adapter are the same design? What about output shafts? I.E. identical, or
close enough that Avi could use my adapter with the Adv. Adpt. Dana 300
(supposedly same for Dana 20) output shaft he has already installed in his CJ?

The rear driveshaft on the Wagoneer TH400/Dana 20 is a CV unit that bolts to
the flange on the Dana 20 (other end is U-joint). Can this CV flange on T-case
be replaced with a U-joint unit? I have the rear drive shaft, but not the
front. Does anyone know what front driveshaft setup was used on the Jeep
TH400/Dana 20 combo? Basic straight shaft or a Double Cardan unit?

I'm assuming that with what ever setup Avi installs, he might have to have
driveshaft lengths modified (lengthened front/shortened rear), because the
TH400 is a longer tranny than the stock 3-speed that was installed.

Side question, I'm assuming that this is a Dana 20 on my tranny, just from
quick visual look over. Where there any other t-case options with TH400
equipped Jeeps? This came from a 1972 Wagoneer. If there were other options,
what would they be and how can I distinguish t-case model numbers?

Does anyone have any experience installing a Jeep TH400/Dana 20 combo in to a
CJ-7, that could provide some experience and info to Avi, for installing this
setup into his CJ and make it "look" stock? Aparently, the Dept. of Motor
Vehicles equivalent in Israel is pretty strict on keeping vehicles "original"
(like some US states you guys live in). Because of this, Avi needs to keep
"modifications" to a minimum.

One more side note, Avi has switched to using a Scrambler CJ-8 skid plate
(which looks stock), for this installation, since the CJ-7 skid wouldn't work.

Any other thoughts you all have on this are GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you all!

P.S. Avi's email address is <adalal@xxxxxxxxxxx> if you'd like to CC your
email responses to him also.

Sincerely,
Greg Taylor :) <><
