Use a 55 Amp Motorola for an A/C equipped car. You can use a stock replacement regulator. What I would do is get a 55 Amp alternator and put it in place, carry the 35 amp and a the old regulator for replacement parts. They are small and you can probably get them in the underfloor storage area all wrapped up and ready for emergency use. The Motorola stuff has some quirks, but is usually fairly reliable. I have a 55 amp that I would send down to you, but I need it for the Convertible. I plan on running it and carrying a 35 amp for a spare, Hmmm, Where did I hear that before??? :] Mark Price mpriceATwestco.net Morgantown, WV 69 AMC rambler, 4.0L, EFI, 5 speed 65 Ambassador Conv, 327 AUTO, Basketcase 01 S-10 CREWCRAP 4X4 ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: fljab@xxxxxxxxxxx Reply-To: mail-From-mprice-westco.net@xxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Wed, 18 May 2005 07:32:21 -0400 >On my stock '67 Rebel Wagon 232 I am upgrading to AC as I've posted here before. I wanted to also upgrade the charging system from the stock 35 amp to something better, probably 60 amp. I have a spare stock alternator that came with the car (I believe it's the original, but not sure) and had planned to just take it to an auto electrice shop here in town for rebuilding/upgrade. > >My question is about the voltage regulator. The stock Motorola is on it now, and I have no reason to suspect it's not OK, but still, I'd like to go ahead and replace both the alt and VR at the same time for reliability (I will be driving this car to Atlanta this summer). Any suggestions to what regulator available aftermarket that's the best buy (not the cheapest, but the best buy)? I don't care about strict originality as much as reliability. I can always keep the stock one and put it back on for a show if I'm worried about it, although that Sanden AC compressor will pretty much shoot the originality issue in the foot... > >Thanks, > >Jim Boone >Mims, FL > >============================================================= >Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist > > > > > >
