So this guy has a lot of ratty but fun looking Valiants and Darts, about 8 or so, and this one truly strange car in the sole garage bay.
It's a little fiberglas sports car based on a Dart, apparently. It's clearly (to me) 60's vintage.
The story he told me is this: it belonged to someone in Beverly Hills, the old guy died or something like that, it was bought by someone who parked it, something happened to this owner [I can't recall the details he told me], after it was hauled to a wreckign yard this current owner immediately went there and hauled it home.
It really is not junk, it might actually be a rare thing. I will try to go back and get photos.
It's apparently italian made, it does look it. It's fiberglas all over except the hood; it's a two-door coupe (two seat?), the roof is fiberglas. It's substantial, well-finished, not ripply, the panels I felt and bonked with my palm were fine.
Dark green/army green color. Flat mahogany dash with custom (non-round, not aftermarket) guages. Didn't see under the hood.
Luckily he's just sitting on it, as this is exactly the sort of person who ends up with things that fall out of history, and exactly the wrong person to make it go again. Which he will. He didn't even know it was made of fiberglas, for @#$%%^ sakes! He thinks of it as a "weird" dodge dart. Sigh.
John Mahoney, can you even begin to guess what this could be with so little information? 60's? Dodge-based? Fiberglas? Sports car (like)? Dark green? 1960's?
