I ran synthetic 10W30 in my 96 cherokee and it picked up 1 MPG. I tried it wth the 5W30 in my S10 and it changed the fuel economy zero! I figure it has something to do with the lighter the weight the less influence the synthetic has on the economy of the engine. I've thought of trying 0W30 in my S10 just to see what happens. It has a 100,000 mile warranty on the engine, I can always change back to the 5W30 before towing it in if it causes any problems :] I've also read several good results reports of the throttle body spacers picking fuel economy up .8 mpg and am thinking that may be my next test on the old off topic S10. I had my 96 cherokee tweaked up to get 20 MPG in town and 25+ on the highway! 4.0L 4X4 5speed. I'd like to get the S10 up to the 18 range in town. I'm up to almost 17 now. From a 15.5 starting point! Stupid thing weighs 4400 lbs! 4600 with the cap on it! I need to find my long bed Comanche [91 model] and get rid of the S10!
