I don't recall if the heads were changed or not, will have to check. But the ports on the 304 are the same size as the 360/401. The only change is in the valve pocket/seat area. I'm not sure this would boost velocity a whole lot, but it should boost it some.

That engine was done for performance within a budget, and I heard reports that it's a strong 360, but if you think about it, even using a small head on the 360 but aiming for mileage, the velocity aspect of this could help in that regard as well, it just wouldn't have high rpm's, but should produce great torque where you need it.
