My first car was a '65 Ford Galaxie LTD 4 dr with 352/auto and cost $150 on a special "Dad deal". Rusty with alot of miles, but man, you sure could get a load of teenagers in that car! We used to go to the drive-in with it and could get 2-3 guys in the trunk. That's back when gas was ~.30/gal, gas stations had "used oil" for .10/qt, and part-time summer jobs paid $1.60/hr. We never had much, but it didn't cost much to have a good time. 4 or 5 of us could throw in a buck apiece and ride all night.

That car lasted a yr or so before I tore it up; went through a few cheapie's and a couple of hand-me-downs after that. Dad was smart to let me have that LTD as I didn't trash his. I remember that my friends and I were always on the lookout for those cheap ~$50-100 cars. My one friend's brother paid $700 for a nice SS Impala 396 '65 and we thought that he was the king of cool car guys!

To me, that's what a teen needs, something that is solid and reliable, but able to take some abuse and dents/dings. When they're done, haul it off! But, that's just me thinking.
