Re: Charity AMX?

Yes, it is still in the body shop in Kenosha. The plan is to try to get it out this fall and on to someone else. The body shop is doing much more work than we anticipated, but they are doing quality work. Once the botched/bad quarter was removed (it had been replaced before) it was discovered that the right side if the car was pushed in about 1/8". The previous repair was made in such as way as to cover this up. It only became obvious when the new quarter was hung and things didn't quite line up. The shop fixed all this! The patch in the trunk and paint is all it was waiting for the last report I got. This shop would like to see it through to final painting -- a local supplier has donated materials. Sure will be nice to get it out of there though! The entire project has taken about twice as long as expected, but the car needed much more work than anticipated body wise. I fully expected the project to take 2-3 years to completion, but not 4-5, which it will end up taking. Onc!
e it gets out of the body shop we need to do an inventory and start on interior items. Most parts are there, but a few detail items will still need running down. Most of the remaining work will be installing and detailing parts. It's a running, driveable car now, but not quite street legal yet.

If interested in working on the car drop me an e-mail! Clubs preferred, but I will consider individuals or a group of individuals. Just talk to me and convince me you have the well being of the car and AMC hobby in general in mind. You only have to promise to attempt to get something done, not everything, and no one will be angry if you don't get much done. You don't have to be a member of the AMC-List or any of the national clubs, nor a subscriber to AIM. This is an AMC COMMUNITY PROJECT! I'm sponsoring it under AIM, but that's all. Any and everyone and/or their group will be mentioned on the car website (http://www.mattsoldcars.com/charityamx/index.html) regardless of affiliation (if any).
