IIRC the timing chain is the same as one of the other AMC engines, maybe the old 195.6? Anyway, it should be readily available. Will cost as much as the engine though... ;> On May 5, 2005 mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx wrote: > While I'm thinking of it. > I have a 287 I paid $50 for and I think it needs a timing chain. > It's only got 60,000 miles on it though so I'm not sure the best way to check that without pulling the cover. > Anyway. Is there a dirt cheap timing chain available for this engine? I paid $50 for it, My plan is to drop it in the Convertible and get it running so the car is moveable. Leave it in place while I do the body work. Then I will change it over to the 327 turbo 400 later. That way if I sandblast and get anything in th engine or overspray ETC; It won't be on the good engine. > Plus I will then know if it is a good engine and I can resell it or Junk it if it is not. > > > Mark Price > mpriceAtwestco.net > Morgantown, WV > 69 AMC rambler, 4.0L, EFI, 5 speed > 65 Ambassador Conv, 327 AUTO, Basketcase > 01 S-10 CREWCRAP 4X4 > > > > > > > > > > > > . ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist
