The ground stud for American headlights is located on the Firewall. It's just to the right and above the master cylinder. [Looking from front of car] It's not really a stud, just a bolt. If you have a six cylinder American it is actually a shorter route to ground to run the ground to a Negative battery post connector with an extra wire! Go figure! When I Wired the EFI into mine the Wrangler harness had a Large black Ground wire in it that was originally intended to ground the Dash ETC; of the Wrangler. I hooked one end of it to where my battery ground connects to the engine block. The other end I connected to the firewall ground point. This way I have a copper ground loop throughout the major electrical systems of the car. I also wired my Halogen headlamps through Relays to take the load off of the Factory headlight switch. The headlights are much brighter now! Painless wiring actually makes a kit to add relays to Headlight systems for this purpose. It is highly recomended for older cars that run Halogen Lamps as the original switches will burn out because of the higher draw of the Halogen lamps.
