Can't answer on rebuilding them, but $300 is retail. You can get Sanden's all the time for less than $200 on Ebay, and many aftermarket AC supply shops. I know, I've been looking for my Rebel AC project, and that's the next "big ticket" item I need to get. I've been looking mainly at 508's, but I see 510's and 507's for the same approximate prices, tho they don't seem as common.
