A: Thanks for the link, Brian! I haven't been in touch with any of my Ozzie or Kiwi buddies in some time so I didn't know what was up down under. I have been building up my own rig to run LPG, CNG or later hydrogen (takes some money, but I want to do it once) I could even run alcohol and maybe even biodiesel (but my stroker would run poorly and I don't think it quite has the strength for long term usage. Besides, it would become a smoker stroker!) When I lived in Canada I did a number of CNG and LPG conversions and learned to deal with the needs of the 130+ octane fuels. (CNG will run in a regular motor but because of the massive tank needed for such a small amount, LNG will be the way to go once technology cures the last of the problems) I had someone tell me today when I mentioned having a LPG powered rig "Man I wouldn't want to be near your car! 1 bullet and you'd take out a city block!" I informed him that unless it was a rapid fire weapon with tracers and steel jacketed slugs, it was more likely to ignite a gas tank than an LPG tank because it had a narrower band of fuel/air mix where it will burn than gasoline. That and the tanks are generally rounded, and thicker steel than gas. Out in the wild woods of Alberta (many years ago, on CFB Cold Lake's furthest outpost where setting off ordinance, C4 and Forcite was allowed), a long ways from civilization, we attempted to explode a 1/2 full CNG tank that had been in a vehicle fire and the Highways Canada inspectors had condemned the tanks. We took turns shooting at it from a bunker with FNs and got some dents. I moved up to a 3.03 and put bigger dents in, and finally nicked one of the valves and all the fuel drained out FAST while we tried to shoot the moving tank and ignite it. Sadly, it wasn't to be. Wish we'd had some C4 and caps to see it go up. (this from the guy who, at 11 years old, stood on top of a '64 Ford gas tank, lighting it numerous times to use as a flame thrower on blackberry bushes till it ran low enough that the internal mix was just right. Just as I jumped on, it lit off and I landed several car lengths away and felt like I'd never breath again from the concussion! The tank looked like it had turned inside out!) I researched some of their material online > huge LNG organization world wide with meets > rallies etc. Canada has for decades run their Cab Fleet and Police Fleets on LNG or LPG. Sleeger Inc. is the main manufacturer for LNG / LPG automotive fuel tanks. The above URL will show you the missing link as to LNG / LPG and EFI / current EFI systems conversions. Bookmark the site - as I believe you'll be looking for it in the Future. Canada has Massive LNG reserves > need a pipeline to the USA > no one is talking that yet > discourse is about LNG Ocean Terminals that need to be built etc. > and new Refineries on former Military Bases > not a bad idea but will be at least a decade away.
