A: I know about the steps in the cyl but I was thinking of extending the sleeves 1/4" or so below the bottom of the bore so the pistons didn't slap from extending so far. I have been told by several sources now that the cheap stroker buildup (ie: 4.0L pistons and block with 4.2L crank and rods) doesn't last long at high RPM because the piston goes so far down the bore the skirts come out and it "rattles" in the hole till the piston busts and it jams. (making a horrible mess from the one I saw so far) Longer rods would also cure this issue, but then going with Accurate Power's pistons that work with the 4.0L rod would cost less anyways! You over bore the cyl almost to the bottom, you leave a ledge at the bottom, that holds the sleeve in the block and keeps it from being pulled down and out of the block. Also the bottom of the cyls are to specs, if you ran a longer cyl sleeve, you would then find that your rotating assembly would hit. The head holds the sleeve in at the top. Andre " A.J."
