" A: The Comando had the Buick V6 though and some 304s in the end @'72 (that's
" what my J4000 got a flexplate from). Haven't heard of a stock Buick 350 one.
" I think the adapter was originally designed for Chev to use up the leftover
" nailhead trannies. Jeep used the same trans with another ring to bolt up to
" the AMC V8s. (I saw a Buick 401 in a J4000 the other day)

nope, not in cjs but i saw a '70-ish j with buick 350, adapter, and
th400. big jeeps used 350s in between amc 327s ['68] and amc 304/360
['72/3] and it was a smart move; they share a lot of parts with the
v6.

it couldn't possibly work for -chevy- to use nailhead th400s up -
that's about the only gm engines they -wouldn't- have bolted to -
but plausibly buick, olds, pontiac, and/or cadillac could've.

btw it's also well known that when they stretched the cj to take amc
engines in the early '70s, it was pretty disastrous. our engines are
much heavier than the cj frame was designed for and it took them a
while to sort that out. fyi the 225 weighs -less- than the old 134
though it has has twice the hp.
