Minor correction: you mean the last version which came out in 96, but was made through at least 2002. After 98 or so it was renamed "Twin Cam" instead of "Quad Four", but is the same 2.4L engine. This engine can't be all bad, a lot of hot rodders are using it to power cars like 32 roadsters (mostly fiberglass repops, which are heavier than their steel counterparts) and Speedway Motor's "Track T". I wonder how close it is to the all aluminum 2.0 and 2.2 Twin-Cam used in the 2005 Cobalt. I suspect the 2005 engine is another improved version of the Quad Four design.
