A: I have wrestled several of these around (4.0L and 2.5L) and there is a noticeable difference in weight. I'm pretty sure it's lighter than the 196 I had as a spare for the '61 Rambler I sold. I have a 904 off one of the 4 cyls that had Renix TBI. It's a 4x4 one, but the parts to swap it to 2wd are easy to come by. (just about any mopar slant six and many small blocks have them too) From: Tom Jennings <tomj@xxxxxxx> To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Telling the diff between AMC 2.5 and Iron Duke Message-ID: <20050404104549.R655@localhost> Anyone know what the fully-accessorized weights are, AMC 2.5L vs. 258 or 4.0? I know this list has a bias against things less than 2 * 4 cylinders, but the 2.5 sounds like a good retrofit for older, smaller cars. If there's substantial weight differences it would help a lot; also it moves the mass towards the back of the car, always a good thing (for front-heavy cars like AMC/Rambler). Modest turbo on one of these things for HP around 180 would be very, very hot.
